THE PROCESS
A Thoughtful, Guided Approach to Portraiture
From first conversation to finished heirloom.
Every portrait we create follows a deliberate, artist-led process designed to ensure the final artwork feels personal, timeless, and meaningful. Nothing is rushed. Nothing is accidental.
This is not a volume-based photography experience.
It is a collaboration — guided from start to finish.
Consultation & Design
Step One: Consultation & Design
Every portrait commission begins with a consultation.
This conversation allows us to understand:
-
who the portrait is for
-
where the finished artwork will live in your home
-
the emotional tone you’re drawn to
-
wardrobe, color harmony, and styling considerations
For limited editions, the artistic vision is already defined, but the details are tailored to each family.
This step ensures your portrait is designed with intention, not decided after the fact.
Portrait Session
Step Two: The Portrait Session
Portrait sessions are unhurried and thoughtfully directed.
We photograph using medium-format systems chosen for their ability to render:
-
natural skin tones
-
subtle expression
-
depth and dimensionality
Whether working within a classic portrait setting or an immersive limited-edition environment, the focus is on presence and connection rather than posing.
For children, sessions are kept calm and engaging — allowing genuine moments to unfold naturally.
Artwork Creation
Step Three: Artistic Refinement
Following your session, images are refined with a light, painterly approach.
Selected portraits are:
-
carefully color-balanced
-
gently refined for tonal depth
-
prepared specifically for large-scale printing
When appropriate, finished artwork may be hand-embellished with texture and detail, adding dimensionality and uniqueness to each piece.
No two finished artworks are ever identical.
Delivery & Installation
Step Four: Artwork & Heirloom Creation
Portraits are produced as physical art objects — not mass-produced prints.
Primary artwork is created on fine art canvas and prepared for display as a statement piece in your home. Companion pieces, such as framed prints or luxury storybook heirlooms, may be commissioned alongside the main portrait.
Storybook heirlooms are written, designed, and bound individually, preserving the narrative behind the portrait in literary form.
Delivery & Installation
Step Five: Presentation & Delivery
Finished artwork is prepared for presentation with care.
We provide:
-
guidance on placement and scale
-
installation recommendations
-
care instructions for longevity
Your portrait is meant to be experienced — viewed from across a room, lived with daily, and passed down over time.
A Note on Investment
A Note on Investment
Portrait commissions begin with a creative fee, which covers the consultation, design, and photographic process.
Finished artwork is selected and commissioned separately, allowing each family to invest intentionally in pieces that best suit their space and vision.
Digital files are available as archival copies following artwork purchase.
This structure ensures the focus remains on craftsmanship, permanence, and quality — not volume.
